Announces the 2011 National Healthy Homes Conference for June

Never
before has such a wide spectrum of health, housing and environmental
disciplines been united under one roof with a shared mission to
improve the health of our nation's families by making their homes
and communities healthy and safe. The 2011
National Healthy Homes Conference is a federally-sponsored
event bringing together a wide range of sectors to better coordinate
efforts in making housing healthy, safe, and environmentally sustainable.
The National Conference is hosted by the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development’s Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard
Control, in partnership with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of
Agriculture, and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Together
we are working to make America's homes and communities healthy

The
Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule Goes Into Effect April 22
Starting
on April 22, 2010, the rule will affect paid renovators who work
in pre-1978 housing and child-occupied facilities. Visit OHHLHC's

HUD
Strongly Encourages Non-Smoking Policies in Public Housing
HUD
has published a Notice strongly encouraging Public Housing Authorities
to implement non-smoking policies in some or all of their public
housing units. On July 17, 2009, HUD posted
the Notice issued jointly by the Office of Public and Indian
Housing and the Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control.

Model Renovator Course Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair and
Painting Announced
EPA,
in collaboration with HUD, issue Model RRP course to train renovation,
repair, and painting contractors how to work safely in housing with
lead-based paint and comply with EPA's Renovation, Repair, and Painting
(RRP) Rule, and HUD's Lead Safe Housing Rule. Visit the Renovation,

PIH Guidance on Lead-Safe Housing Rule and Lead Disclosure Rule
for Field Office Staff and Public Housing Agencies
The
Office of Public and Indian Housing updated its lead regulatory
guidance to field staff by issuing guidance describing how lead
safety is addressed in all of its programs, and by issuing a lead
compliance toolkit for the Housing Choice Voucher Program. Both
documents are on a single PIH
